FEED-FORWARD AND FEED-BACK COMPRESSION :
Most "good sounding compressors" are designed with a Feed-Back loop control, which is a very musical and nice way to deal with levels, but sometime engineers may want to experiment with faster attack and a more aggressive way to deal with peaks and levels… So, if you have opted for the Side Chain Insert Option you can also rig up your FAIRCHILD 670 mkII to do anything between Feed-Forward or Feed-Back compression using the Mix Control , here is what you need to do :
This setup will allow you to use the IN and OUT of your FAIRCHILD normally, and to use the Mix Control to get any compression characteristic between F.F and F.B with :
a) Mix control all the way down equivalent to using a Feed-Forward Compressor (more aggressive)
b) Mix control all the way up equivalent to using a Feed-Back Compressor (The way the FAIRCHILD670 design normally is)
